Position Available: Assistant Store Manager/Locksmith Service Technician
We are looking for an experienced Locksmith with management skills for this dual role job - to manage our Toronto store location and provide in-store locksmith service and outside service calls. The majority of our client base is in the GTA area. Are you experienced, motivated, have a ‘Can Do’ attitude? If you enjoy the freedom of not being behind a desk all day or shut-up in a building this could be the position for you. – This position is open until filled.
Duties:
- Repair, Service, Rebuild, Installation of mechanical or electrical locking devices using hand-tools and special equipment
- Disassemble lock such as pad, safe and door locks and repair or replace worn tumblers, springs and pins
- Install, repair, and re-key cylinder cores; evaluate and repair door locks in a timely manner
- Change combination by inserting new or repair tumblers into lock
- Cut new or duplicate keys using key cutting machine
- Move lock pick in cylinder to open door locks without keys
- Open safe locks by drilling
- Advise customers regarding industry upgrades for locking devices and hardware applications and installations
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the store including sales, administration, merchandising and customer service
- Over-see existing staff, hiring/training of new employees requested by Head Office
- Manage inventory of store location and service vehicle, including completion of all related paperwork
- Conduct periodic inventory counts as directed by Head Office
- Perform preventative maintenance and arrange emergency repair for store location
- Interact with other trades
Prerequisites:
- Maximum of 5 years experience as a locksmith; minimum 3-5 years in retail management
- Must be available for normal store hours, service calls and on-call schedule
- G class Ontario Drivers License and Clean drivers abstract
- Police Background Check
- Outstanding punctuality/attendance record, ability to work with minimal supervision
- Substantial experience dealing directly with all levels of clientele from customers to Contractors
- Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, problem solving, decision making skills and impeccable follow up skills
- Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, handle multiple tasks
- Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Moneris
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Speak English, Read English, Write English
- Strong understanding of Key Master and Insta code operating systems and applicatons
- Ability to operate Ilco manual key cutter,standard hand tools and portable power tools
- Physical Capabilities include Manual dexterity, Hand-eye co-ordination, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling
- Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds, to climb ladders in a construction environment
- Own Tools Required
- Steel-toed Saftey work boots
